A Message from Nina
Hello,
I’ve been through some hard things in life just like many of you. I’ve found myself in very dark places, faced major losses, and experienced the kind of grief that changes you forever, the kind of grief no one should ever have to face. Losing my mother was one of the hardest journeys of my life. She passed away right before my 17th birthday, and at such a pivotal time in my life as a young woman, I found myself lost, broken, depressed, and heading down the wrong roads. I struggled with sadness, confusion, unhealthy choices, alcohol, sex, and surrounding myself with the wrong people and influences while trying to cope with pain I did not fully understand.
As life continued, more experiences came, not all bad, because life also brought beautiful moments too, but those painful moments hit differently once grief becomes part of your story. Later on, I would experience more life changes, including marriage, divorce, heartbreak, disappointment, and eventually the loss of my father. Trust me, I could go on and on about the things life can place on us, because the truth is, life will happen to all of us in different ways.
But somewhere along the way, I encountered a relationship that truly changed the trajectory of my life forever, my relationship with my Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ. I gave my heart to the Lord at the age of 21, and from that moment, my life began to change. To know the love, grace, mercy, and presence of God the way I have experienced Him has been one of the most beautiful gifts of my life. That relationship became the foundation that helped carry me through some of my darkest moments.
My goal is simply to be here as an encouragement to you, to help lift you up in the areas where you may feel broken, weary, lost, or in need of healing. Healing is a journey, and it is a process. One thing I’ve learned is not to rush that process. Give yourself grace as you navigate life one step at a time.
I invite you to join me by tuning into the From Grief to Purpose podcast, streaming across podcast platforms and on YouTube at From Grief to Purpose with Nina. We are also excited to soon transition our website from That Dose of Encouragement to From Grief to Purpose as we continue growing this community of healing, faith, and encouragement together.
Thank you so much for visiting. And always remember, your journey does not have to be rushed. Take it one step at a time.
“And surely I am with you always...” — Matthew 28:20
